Unit

The Freedom control unit is a wearable electronic device that creates a user-friendly symbiosis between humans and technology. The control unit enables people with severe spinal Injury or muscle dystrophy resulting in a lack of hand control, the ability to control their electric wheelchair and regain an increased level of independence.

Reflection

The freedom control unit was for an electronics based Unit call Human machine interface. It was very rewarding to work on a project that aimed to help the community and in particular the disabled community. I strongly believe that this product could help many people in need. However, This project is still in the development phase. In the time given to work on the project I managed to get the sender unit working however ran out of time to finish of the code to allow the receiver unit to control the actuators and servos. I know the problem lies within the Bluetooth communication code however had not had a chance to work on it further.  I am super happy with the results so far with the sender tested and working well and look forward to returning to this project in my own time.

Throughout this project I gained more experience working with electronics, further developed research skills, a better understanding of the equipment currently being used to help aid our disabled population and learnt how rewarding designing to help another persons well being can be.
