ORGANICA

Organica is a fully restored second-hand record player with a modern twist.
From concept ideation, CAD modelling was used to bring the turntable idea to reality. Using plywood along with CNC machining, laser cutting and 3D printing, this turntable has been given a new look and another life. The hidden detail of the turntable design is the 3D printed spaces. Designed specifically for this project, the spacers screw into themselves to not only create the desired layered effect but lock in and hold all the layers together.

Design a small good quality timber product for batch production for a high end retail outlet. Must be able to be made in a commercial workshop with sustainable materials aswell as specifications and costings
Reflection
Overall, extremely happy with my result. The main challenge was the design of the connectors, with several versions failing due to weakness in the 3D print. This was overcome through design changes and ensuring 100% infill on the prints. I believe that I could have had one less layer, changing the overall height and lowering the amount of 6mm ply needed. Due to the shape, there is a moderate amount of material waste that I would like to keep in mind and find a use for.
